Learn to Kayak Class Registration
Keepers of the Shiawassee is offering a kayaking class on Saturday, May 23 at the Linden Eagles Wooden Park pavilion at 11:00 followed by a paddle on the Linden Mill Pond. This $20 class will be taught by an ACA certified instructor with over 15 years of experience.She will help you get off to a great start on your water adventures whether you have been kayaking for a few years or are just starting out. Learn how to safely get in and out of your kayak and how using the foot braces and a basic forward stroke can make your paddling more efficient and less tiring. The instructor will discuss types of kayaks and which is best for your type of paddling, safety equipment and how to transport your boat. You will learn how to tell when it is safe to paddle and how to stay safe once on the water (no crowding on winding rivers). After “class” instruction we’ll move to the Linden Mill Pond to practice. Experienced paddlers will be on the water with you to give further instructions.You can bring your own boat or we will have kayaks, paddles and life-jackets (PFDs) for use through Shiawassee River Shuttle. This class is for persons 12 years to adults.
